No, Really.

I know I have grazed the topic in the past but Kung Fu Hustle is perhaps the most creative and entertaining movie EVER. I am sure you are reading this and thinking that I have killed my fair share of brain cells. Well, I say to you, that's true.
But it doesn't take away that this movie ROCKS my soul. Everything about it made me want to laugh and cry at the same time, and this is my favorite flavor of emotional chimichanga!
Give it a chance.

SWEET JESUS PEOPLE! This is motion picture art! Good God, if that didn't do it for you stop reading this now and rethink your whole entire life.

Woke Up This Morning

Sometimes, on special occasions, my children get to see this side of me:

They're immune to Pennywise the Clown now. They fear "The Nubin." He is a horrible, relentless tickle monster.

Bliss

This is my favorite image EVER.
Every time I feel uninspired and bored with life I look at this picture for a good long time.
What's interesting is the backstory.

In this image:
Sisters. There were seven but not all photographed. Two cousins seen here.
These girls would soon lose their father to Tuberculosis. Some would have to quit school to help their mother feed, support and clothe the younger ones.
These girls had each other, the love of their mother and the fight in their bodies to weather through the storm.

They had the memory of a day spent bouncing on a bed, when they paused for a brief moment to take a proper picture.

And my mother. Oh my mother, is the one with the gigantic smile on her face.

Confession

The "tale" is not completely fictitious.

Let's Play Truth or Tale

Truth or Tale?

One of the following stories is true and the other is completely fictitious.

1. Today, my cousin, Mimi dropped off her dog, Frodo, to stay at my house for a few days while on vacation in Cali. My son, DayDay, was eating a peanut butter sandwich and leaning way back in his chair when suddenly....FLIP!!!!
The chair flipped backwards against the hard tile floor. His head should have smacked the tile pretty darn hard but instead, at precisely the exact moment, Frodo comes waltzing by to serve as Dave's cushion. He was hopeful that a delicious morsel would land his way and not the head of a 4 year old. Both Dave and dog are fine.

Truth or Tale?

2. Today, I awoke early in the morning. I had to pee really bad but also had to check my blackberry for emails, texts, voicemails, etc. This is the only moment besides the evening where I have a peaceful moment.
Upon standing up to flush the toilet, I lose control of my blackberry and it lands in the toilet...only to be flushed.

Truth or Tale?

Covered in Pudding

I gave my husband a baby covered in chocolate pudding last night. She had the cutest "Who? Me?" look on her face when her father's incredulous expression turned her way.
"You're going to hand off a baby covered in pudding? Are you serious?"

I know it sounds kind of mean, but there is nothing I enjoy more than giving Alex these types of scenarios. For instance, I love it when Captain No lays a giant turd in her diaper (yes, she still wears one because she refuses to use the potty, she prefers not to wipe her own ass) when Alex is around. There is nothing more satisfying than handing over a soiled, whiny child and watching my husband struggle to change the diaper.
